Why NFW2018 ?
- Fast Fashion Is the Second Dirtiest Industry in the World, Next to Big Oil
“The clothing industry is the second largest polluter in the world … second only to oil,” the recipient of an environmental award told a stunned Manhattan audience earlier this year. “It’s a really nasty business ..it’s a mess.”
- Handlooms Are Dying – and It’s Because of Our Failure to Protect Them
Decades of poorly-implemented protection policies and the growth of power loom imitations has led to the slow downfall of the handloom sector. Handloom Weavers needs to be protected & empowered to promote sustainable fashion.
- Sustainable Fashion is The Future
As natural capital decreases and population swells, the future holds many challenges for the global fashion industry. We simply will not be able to sustain this cycle of careless consumption.
- Trends in the Fashion World
The socially conscious and green fashion trends are making big waves. The enthusiasm building—among both designers and consumers—indicates that socially responsible fashion may be more than a fleeting trend.
